Accelerate AI | Collaborative Strategies Project Opening Plenary

The Accelerate AI | Collaborative Strategies project will address common obstacles to AI implementation. Participants will co-create a framework of best practices and strategies for addressing challenges in AI projects including data sharing, legal & compliance requirements, coordinating resources, skills and domain expertise, obtaining leadership buy-in, and investment.
The Accelerate AI Opening Plenary will showcase speakers from the Vector community who will share their success stories and challenges and opportunities with AI deployments. For both technical and non-technical AI practitioners.

Grand Challenges to Operationalization of AI in the Enterprise by Alexander Wong, Co-founder Darwin AI
Alexander Wong, P.Eng., is currently the Canada Research Chair in Artificial Intelligence and Medical Imaging, Member of the College of the Royal Society of Canada, co-director of the Vision and Image Processing Research Group, and an associate professor in the Department of Systems Design Engineering at the University of Waterloo. He has published over 600 refereed journal and conference papers, as well as patents, in various fields such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, and computational imaging. He has won numerous awards both at the national and international level for his research innovations and has given over 70 invited talks and his work has been covered in over 300 media articles and interviews. He is the co-founder of DarwinAI, an award-winning AI company focused on accelerating the development of trustworthy and dependable production-level AI solutions at scale in the enterprise.
Mona is the Global Head of Medical AI at NIVIDIA. She brings a unique perspective with her varied experience in clinical medicine, medical applications, and business. She is a board certified cardiac surgeon and the previous Chief Medical Officer of a digital health company. She holds an MBA in Management Information Systems, and has worked on Wall Street. Her ultimate goal is the betterment of medicine though AI.
Andres is the Director of Applied AI Projects at the Vector Institute for Artificial Intelligence, where he is accelerating the adoption of AI in some of Canada’s most influential companies. Some key areas of his work include Trustworthy AI and its Governance and translating AI quirks to the corporate environment. Andres has over 15 years of experience in the financial industry spanning more than 16 countries, designing and implementing data-enabled solutions to achieve greater operational performance, stronger risk management and enhanced business responsiveness. He is an Industrial Engineer from the University of Chile, holds an MBA from Manchester University, a certified Project Management Professional and a certificate in AI from the University of Toronto.
