To join the Vector Institute as a research intern, you must be supervised by a Vector Faculty Member.

Research Internships

The deadline for Winter 2023 internship applications is October 3rd at 4 pm. The application period for Summer 2023 internships will open on October 31st.


1. CV
2. University transcripts (official or unofficial if ongoing term not yet completed) or offer letter
3. Research Statement (not required for undergraduate students)
4. Two letters of recommendation (Required for PhD and postdoc applicants, optional for undergraduate and Masters students)


  • Undergraduate, Master’s, or PhD students in a STEM background; or you have graduated within the last semester
  • You are registered in a Canadian or international university
  • You have at a minimum,  completed your second year in an undergraduate program
  • You have completed an Introduction to Machine Learning course

The Vector Institute offers both in-person and remote internships.  Please note, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Vector Institute is only able to offer in-person internships to individuals who already hold the required work permit.
