Hongyang Zhang is a tenure-track assistant professor at University of Waterloo, affiliated with Vector Institute for AI. He is the director of The SafeAI Lab. He received his PhD in 2019 from the Machine Learning Department at Carnegie Mellon University and completed a Postdoc at Toyota Technological Institute at Chicago. He is interested in the problems where beautiful theory and practical methodology meet, which broadly include theories and applications of machine learning and algorithms.
