Miyo joined The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation (PMCF) as its President and CEO in July 2021. The PMCF is Canada’s largest and leading cancer charity, dedicated to raising funds for Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, one of the top 5 cancer research centres in the world known for its game-changing scientific breakthroughs and exceptional patient treatment and care. Through philanthropy, events, its world-leading home lottery program, and commercialization initiatives, the PMCF raises nearly $300 million a year and makes possible the critical funding required to accelerate cancer research, education, and clinical care – benefitting patients at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, throughout Canada and the world.
Prior to joining the PMCF, Miyo worked in corporate Canada, where she has held senior leadership roles in multiple industries, including management consulting and banking. In these roles, she has led large enterprise transformation initiatives and major operations across sales, HR, marketing, regulatory risk and compliance, and corporate strategy, including as the Global Chief Privacy Officer for TD Bank Group, the country’s second largest bank and one of the top ten retail banks in the U.S., and as the Chief Strategy Officer for one of Canada’s largest and fastest growing artificial intelligence startups, MindBridge Ai, in Ottawa. She also served as the Director of Strategy and Operations for the Schwartz Reisman Institute for Technology and Society at University of Toronto.
An entrepreneur by background, Miyo founded her own consulting company, which she ran for 8 years before it was acquired by Deloitte Canada in 2010. At Deloitte, Miyo served on the Executive Committee of the Canadian and Chilean firms, where she led the firm’s priority client accounts, the HR function, Marketing, Brand, and the client and employee experience. She also served on Deloitte’s global board of directors, the first woman from a minority group in the firm’s 160-year history to do so.
In 2017, she was named one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women by the Women’s Executive Network. Miyo has a Ph.D. in communications from McGill University. She and her husband live in Toronto and have two teenaged sons.
