Vector Institute’s marketing team achieves remarkable productivity gains through AI-powered automation

AI breakthroughs often make headlines for their outward-facing applications. But at Vector Institute, a recent innovation is demonstrating the transformative power of AI on internal operations. By implementing a customized generative AI interface, Vector’s marketing and communications team has drastically increased  productivity, saving the team an estimated 1,750 hours annually. This is the story of how AI is reshaping the way we work, one task at a time.

In 2023, the team was grappling with the usual content creation, administrative, and time management challenges faced by marketing departments worldwide. But a visionary decision to implement a pilot program with Agentiiv – an agency that offers AI technology and human expertise to maximize every team’s potential, was about to change everything.

The team embarked on a 12-week pilot program that would redefine their approach to work.

Transforming workflows: the AI-powered revolution

The implementation of customized generative AI interface brought about two significant changes:

1. Task Automation: Routine administrative tasks that once consumed hours were now completed in minutes, freeing up valuable time for strategic thinking.

2. Enhanced Content Creation: The AI tool empowered the team to generate high-quality content more efficiently, maintaining Vector Institute’s standard of excellence while significantly reducing production time.

Quantifiable success: the numbers speak volumes

The results of the pilot program were nothing short of remarkable:

  • Time Saved: Over the 12-week pilot, each team member saved an average of 5 hours per week.
  • Annual Impact: This translates to a staggering 1,750 hours saved annually for the team

Strategic Focus: The time saved allowed the team to redirect their efforts towards high-value, strategic initiatives.

“Implementing genAI in our workflows wasn’t just about saving time. It was about reimagining what’s possible in marketing and communications. Now we’re able to focus on the strategic initiatives that truly drive value for Vector  and our partners.”

Kari Clarke-Zemnickis

Vice President of Marketing and Communications, Vector Institute

Beyond efficiency: nurturing a culture of innovation

The benefits of the AI implementation extended far beyond mere time savings for the Vector team though as many participating in the pilot described an increased level of job satisfaction and higher levels of engagement, freed from the burden of repetitive tasks. Additionally, for a smaller marketing organization – within a non-profit – the addition of this technology to workflows  led to a noticeable decrease in stress levels across the team and a surge in creative output.

Looking ahead, Vector Institute has now expanded the use of the technology to other parts of the Marketing and Communications work and team members and Vector is in the process expanding this program across other departments, aiming to replicate the success seen in the pilot and the department.

“Adoption of AI internally has shown us the true potential of AI in transforming internal workflows – something we champion with our partners and collaborators all the time. We’re excited to explore how we can further leverage this technology to drive innovation and efficiency across Vector Institute internally for better outcomes for our stakeholders and research community,”

A model for industry-wide innovation

Vector Institute’s success in implementing AI for internal workflows serves as a beacon for other organizations looking to boost productivity and foster innovation – especially non-profits or mid-market organizations who may be challenged by understanding how best to leverage a remarkable technology like AI.

The AI landscape is changing at lightning speed. Every day, there are breakthroughs in deep learning, LLMs, you name it. But let’s be realistic: how many companies have the resources to keep up with this pace of innovation? How many can afford to build their own LLM? That’s where Vector Institute comes in.

How can we help you?

We’re not just a research institute; we think of ourselves as an innovation partner. We bring together the best AI minds from an extensive research community and 14 academic partners to – 31 large enterprises and 200+ startups, which helps us keep our finger on the pulse of cutting-edge research, and, most importantly, translating that research into real-world solutions.

We work side-by-side with companies to understand industry-specific challenges, and help them implement AI in a way that actually moves the needle. That’s the Vector difference.
