Babak Taati, PhD PEng, is the Barbara G. Stymiest Chair in Rehabilitation Technology Research at Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, within the University Health Network. He is also a Senior Scientist at the KITE Research Institute, where he leads the KITE Aging Team. He is an Associate Professor, Affiliated Scientist at the Department of Computer Science, as well as the Institute of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Toronto.  His research applies computer vision technologies to solve real-world healthcare challenges in rehabilitation and the management of chronic conditions. The main focus of his work is to move away from the laboratory and contrived situations towards the development of computer vision and health monitoring systems that work reliably in natural settings, such as in the home or in long-term care.
