Shweta Mahajan is an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and a Vector Faculty Affiliate. Prior to this, she was a senior machine learning researcher at Qualcomm AI Research. From 2022 to 2023, she was a postdoctoral researcher in the Computer Vision Group at The University of British Columbia supervised by Prof. Leonid Sigal
and Dr. Kwang Moo Yi. She was also a postdoctoral affiliate at The Vector Institute of AI in Toronto. She completed her PhD from Technische Universität Darmstadt under the supervision of Prof. Stefan Roth in 2022; received her MSc from Universität des Saarlandes in 2017, where she was the member of the Machine Learning Group and the Max Planck Institute of Informatics. Her work has received the best paper award by the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research (2020), and her PhD thesis was featured in Gesellschaft für Informatik (2023). Her research focuses on computer vision and machine learning, specializing in statistical and machine learning methods for generative modeling, multimodal learning, scene understanding, data synthesis, and visual inference.
