Silviu Pitis is a CIFAR AI Safety Postdoctoral Fellow at the Vector Institute, collaborating with Sheila McIlraith. He received his PhD from the University of Toronto, where he was advised by Jimmy Ba. His research broadly focuses on the design, evaluation and alignment of general purpose AI agents, and applies methods from reinforcement learning, language modeling and decision theory. He holds a Masters in CS from the Georgia Institute of Technology, a JD from Harvard Law School, and a BBA from the Schulich School of Business.
