Varun Gupta

Vector Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellow

Varun is a Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellow at the Vector Institute, hosted by Nicolas Papernot. His research interests are broadly in trustworthy machine learning. He is interested in studying interactions between AI systems and various human stakeholders with differing information and incentives. He earned his PhD from the University of Pennsylvania under the supervision of Aaron Roth and Michael Kearns. His doctoral work focused on reliable decision-making via calibration, with applications to algorithmic fairness, uncertainty quantification, and human-AI collaboration.
