Vector Institute extends its sincere condolences to the family and colleagues of Pearl Sullivan, the former Dean of the University of Waterloo Faculty of Engineering from 2012 to 2019, on the news of her passing on November 28, 2020. In addition to the long list of achievements as the Dean, Pearl Sullivan was also a founding member of the Board of Directors for Vector Institute, having supported the formation of the institute during its critical first year from proposal to launch. Vector Institute is grateful for her advice and diminished by her loss, and we extend our thanks for her contributions to the Vector Institute, the University of Waterloo, and Canada as a whole.
